"Let everything happen to you. Beauty and terror. Just keep going. No feeling is final."
(Rainer Maria Rilke)

"If people can't control their own emotions, then they have to start trying to control other people's behaviour." (Robin Skynner)

"Feelings are really your GPS system for life. When you’re supposed to do something, or not supposed to do something, your emotional guidance system lets you know."
(Oprah Winfrey)

Feel it, don't flee it. (Paraphrase of Heather Dominick-Kosmicki)

This too shall pass.
(Persian Sufi adage [Can be used as affirmation])

"Cultivate fascination with all sensation, all sensation, all feelings are life - even resistance, learn how to welcome, enjoy and love them - let them have you, completely, so that their power and energy becomes available to you. Allow every sensation to be ecstatic."
(Peter Warnock)

Emotion has a history of being of being seen as weak and female.
However, if we allow ourselves to feel it, emotion can give
exquisite feedback on life!!

Feedback that not only allows our survival, but also acts as an inner guidance system that can reorient our life and help us to our individual and collective destiny.

Emotion evolved as a way for animals and ancient humans to adapt successfully to their environment. So, Wikipedia (accessed 27 October 2017) tells us:

'According to modern evolutionary theory, different emotions evolved at different times. Primal emotions, such as fear, are associated with ancient parts of the brain and presumably evolved among our pre-mammal ancestors. Filial emotions, such as a human mother's love for her offspring, seem to have evolved among early mammals. Social emotions, such as guilt and pride, evolved among social primates. Sometimes, a more recently evolved part of the brain moderates an older part of the brain, such as when the cortex moderates the amygdala’s fear response. Evolutionary psychologists consider human emotions to be best adapted to the life our ancestors led in nomadic foraging bands.'

Today, these same emotions may sometimes be confused by modern life, but they still can allow you to move from victim to cause/master of your life.
Emotions are like signposts or decision points on your life path.

Drugs, whether medical, recreational or illegal, tend to block us from feeling our emotions. Drugs may be fine for a medical emergency, but not as a lifestyle dedicated to being the best we can be?

So, it is okay and actually beneficial to experience and express emotions.
But we need to take responsibility for our emotions and somehow move to the Path of Light and Love! Adopt a High Ideal, an anchor into that higher world!!

This series on Emotion aims to collect the various meanings associated with different emotions.
This may answer why you are feeling certain emotions! In turn, this can help you to act with responsibility and purity. To this end, there is an Emotion Index.
